Red Cross needs PA volunteers
Hi. According to Anita Foster, Metroplex Communications Officer for the American Red Cross, hurricane operations are still in full swing and more than 3,600 people across DFW are being sheltered. "It doesn't look like things are going to let up for a few more days,” Foster reports.
There are many opportunities to volunteer and serve. As you may know, the Red Cross has a Public Affairs (PA) function and several of the GFW PRSA Chapter members volunteer and serve this function.
You can learn more about the volunteer opportunities, training available and the needs by reading this blog from the DFW American Red Cross: http://www.redcrossdfw.org
I know several of our other members work for non-profits in the area who are serving the evacuees and assisting our community in this time of need. If your organization has a need for volunteers as a result of this disaster, please send that information to lauravanhoosier[@]gmail.com and we will post it and share it with others.
