She will also serve in this position at the 2008 Assembly. She will represent PRSA members who are not affiliated with a chapter, which is about 125 people in Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Guam and Puerto Rico,
and serve in the Armed Forces.
She has been an adjunct instructor at South Carolina’s Furman University and at Texas Christian University, and has published articles about public relations in trade and business media, including “Public Relations Quarterly,” “PR Tactics” and “Journal of Employee Communications Management.” She is a contributor to the book, "Crisis Communications in Health Care: A Delicate Balance," and to the instructor's guide for "This is PR” textbook.
Carolyn has been Southwest District chair, president of New Mexico PRSA, a member of Greater Fort Worth and South Carolina chapter boards of directors, a PRSA assembly delegate and a member of the national accreditation board. She was elected to the College of Fellows in 2001, and to the position of National Assembly Delegate At Large in 2007.
She received bachelor of journalism and bachelor of arts degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in communications management in an interdisciplinary program of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and the School of Management.
